Drain Cleaning

The Inspection, Cleaning, & Repair Process With Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing

Using our video inspection and sewer locating technology, we determine the damage and assess whether we can use a trenchless repair method to reverse the damage, such as cured-in-place pipe lining, pipe bursting, or point repair. If we cannot use a trenchless method then traditional open trench excavation may be required. Sometimes the pipes are too damaged and damaged in too many locations, in this case, trenchless technology may not be an option.

But before we can make these decisions, our inspections preface any of these steps and give us the information we need to determine what the best solution is. Following this inspection, we will clean the pipe and remove any waste and debris from inside it. This is done through hydro jetting, using equipment that allows us to blast water through the sewer line and drains at high pressure. This is particularly effective for removing clogs, but also for preparing the pipe for any lining solutions that may be required to fix leaks and cracks. This procedure has to be done by a professional plumber in Seattle, WA for optimal results.

Trenchless Technology

Open Excavation Versus Trenchless Technology

Open excavation is the traditional method of sewer repairs and construction. Using a backhoe, a trench is dug into the ground, allowing the plumbers to replace the old pipes with the new ones. A process that could take weeks to complete, the trench would need to be backfilled with the dirt. While this process is still sometimes needed for extremely severe situations, at Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing, we utilize modern techniques and technology to present our Seattle, WA customers with a better alternative.

Our trenchless technology allows us to repair your drain and sewer lines without excavating your property. This makes trenchless repairs more cost-effective than excavation. With trenchless-based repairs, our technicians are able to locate a single access point to the sewer line and we can clean the existing pipeline with hydro jetting equipment and rehabilitate it as needed.

Sewer Repair

Sewer Line Repair Options

At Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing, we have a variety of options at our disposal for repairing sewers and pipelines. Through our green plumbing initiatives, we offer various no-dig, eco-friendly solutions that can be conducted and create little disruption to the landscaping, sidewalks, yards, and patios. These options include cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining, pipe bursting, and point repair, all of which solutions that save our customers time and money due to their fast turnaround time.

Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining is deployed by inserting a liner into the existing pipe and inflating it. The lining, coated with epoxy resin, is pressed against the inside of the pipe due to the air pressure inside of the inflatable bladder, forcing the resin to cure in place over the course of several hours. This process is effective in sealing away cracks and leaks and can be employed to fix full lengths of pipe or small sections.

Pipe Bursting

Pipe Bursting

Pipe bursting is a trenchless method of replacing buried pipelines, such as sewer, water, or natural gas pipes, without the need for a traditional construction trench. In this process, a drill head is inserted into the pipe and as the drill head fragments the collapsed portions of the pipe, a new HDPE pipe is pulled along from behind the pipe, allowing for a seamless installation. This process is recommended when portions of the sewer line have collapsed and can’t be fixed with lining methods.

In the point repair process of repairs, a flexible pipe is inserted into the existing damaged pipe. This inserted pipe is installed by just digging one hole and therefore does not require major excavation, or the need to dig a trench. This has earned it the name of point repair, as it simply requires a single hole or access point to be successful.
